However we decide this is fine with me.
I really don't come here for the jokes.
Dry humor? Sure. Making light of a situation? Sure.
But outright posting of a joke? I'd prefer it not.
It's not because I'm stuffy. I'm in another
listserver that went through something like
this a while ago. It was decided that Friday
was to be joke day with of course good taste.
The word "JOKE" was to prefix anything in the
"Subject" field. That allowed people to filter
out a joke posted in that group. It didn't last
too long in a listserver base with 1,400 subscribers.
If I receive 50 posts in one day from the group,
then that roughly translates to 70,000 separate
posts the listserver had to handle in one day to
everyone subscribed. That's roughly 3,000 posts
per hour over 24 hours assuming the posts are
uniform throughout the entire day.
And, aside from all that, I'd rather keep this
group at an efficient level.
Subject/question posted.
On-line or off-line discussion/answer follows.
Done.
That's just my 2.71256 cents worth <with inflation included>.
But, just as a suggestion, if do you require a break
as we all do, go to news:rec.humor
Did ya hear the one about ... Ooops! Sorry.
Regards people,
Doug
