Yes!

However I believe it was around 1988.

The C.O. that burned down was in Hinsdale, Ill. just outside Chicago.
It was an unmanned remote office that just happened to have all or must
of the long distance trunks in and out of Chicago running through it.
Places like O'Hare airport and the Chicago Mercantile exchange were cut
off from the outside world.

It was a classic example of Murphys law.  Litigation is still in
process.
