Actually I spent about 45 minutes in the Cingular store playing with the 750
and the Cingular 8525.Probably going to go with the 8525.

I use the conduits to sync with Outlook.

Thanks,

Jim

Nice one!! And I'm SURE you didn't do that to position yourself for a
Treo 800 sometime in the future . . .

A few more specifics will be needed to help you on how to fall back.
Certainly you will want to uninstall everything and install the Zire
software again. If you're using Outlook to sync with, you just sync.
If you're using Palm Desktop you'll have to move the appropriate files
from the username folder (having previously saved that, of course,
before uninstalling) into the NEW username folder once you install the
Zire stuff. The machinations needed to preserve Palm Desktop stuff are
some of the several reasons I prefer Outlook.

There is one caveat to the above, however: depending on which PalmOS
your Zire has you may actually have to EXPORT calendar, contacts, tasks,
notes, etc. from the Treo 650 version of the Palm Desktop and IMPORT
them into the newly-installed Zire version of the Palm Desktop. I don't
recall where the boundary was that required this, but I know it happened
at some point.

It would probably be easier if you just bought a 680 (GSM) or 700
(CDMA), though!! :-)

Cheers,

Don

OK. I've done it...I dropped my Treo 650 in the toilet...I know,
hahahahaha.
Well, even though I was eyeing an upgrade I did NOT subconcsiously do
this
on purpose. I'm going back to the old way.....my trusty Palm Zire 72 and
the
cell phone (which is 3G and tetherable to my laptop so not too too bad
but
the lack of push email and instant gratification does grate my
nerves)...

My question is this...

Do I have to uninstall the desktop software and start fresh? What is the
best way to backup to an OLDER handheld?

Thanks and your help is much appreciated.
