Mostly agree, but a big NOPE to the comment below as it relates to
Verizon. Verizon has technicians in the stores who can do real things!!
T-Mobile people had some limited capabilities. I don't know about
Cingular/ATT and Sprint.

One of the reasons I've been so happy with Verizon is that even through
the product quality problems with my previous 4 700p's, they were right
there to help diagnose the problem and replace the phone, on the spot!

Cheers,

Don

The stores are merely places to sell stuff. You can't get help there
once you've made the purchase. On the other hand, my experience is
they're all about the same. They hire eager youngsters to follow rules,
brag about what's written on the latest placard, and take your money. If
you want to know something that isn't already on the store posters, you
have to hope you run into a geek who actually grooves on learning how
the darn things work. You find that guy, regardless which company he's
working for, treat him (or her) really well, and send all your friends
his way so he gets maximum commissions.

All big companies are the same, insulated from their customers. When you
don't like how they're treating you, they don't even mind listening to
your complaints -- as long as you keep sending money. As my experiences
of the past week bear out, they'll even admit they've lied, and let you
make the decision whether to buy anyway -- or do without. All the
Cingular folks I talked to and not one of them was impressed that I
might be willing to pay the extra money to Palm, rather than have the
deal keep changing from Cingular. In the old days (I'm old enough to
remember them) you'd threaten to go next door and the clerk would go
running for someone who might have an idea how to make you happy staying
in the store.
