Sprint has excellent coverage, but not only that, you can actually roam onto Verizon's network for free. Or so I understand. I need to take the metro here to see if I can get a signal - Verizon has an exclusive deal with the metro so that only Verizon is serviced in the stations/tunnels. In any case, it totally depends on the area of the country you are in. Sprint has better coverage than Verizon in some areas, and in others Verizon beats Sprint. I think, though, that Verizon's network has improved a lot over the years. I remember some people having issues with it in my area 5+ years ago, but as with all the carriers, they are all constantly adding towers...
