I'm seeing greater than expected battery drain as well lately for my unlocked
treo 680.

Haven't added any new software either. Could my battery just be dying?

Thanks,

Sam

Subject: [Treo] Uh oh... battery issues again
To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]: [email protected]

At the necessary risk opening that can of worms again, I'm having
battery drain problems with my Treo 680.

The past week or so, I've noticed that the battery charge as reported by the
Treo has been dropping faster than I think it should for the use it's been
getting. This is usually accompanied by the battery
compartment being warmer than normal. I top it off to full charge at least
once per day, sometimes the battery compartment gets warm while on the charger.

I've been wracking my brain trying to think of anything that I may have done to
cause this, but I cannot. I thought that a new beta program
from Rob at Hobbyist may have been the cause, but the problem persists even
after uninstalling it and rebooting the Treo. Then, up until
about 10 minutes ago I thought it was cellular service related as my
signal strength meter has been fluctuating widely, from almost nothing to a
strong reading. I know that when the signal strength drops below a certain
point, the radio will ramp up its power usage in an attempt to compensate.

But 10 minutes ago, I had a full charge, on the charger and I removed it from
the charger. Immediately the battery meter went from 100% to
97% instead of the normal 99%. Even if the signal strength has chosen that
very nano-instant to drop (which it didn't), there is no way
ramping up the radio power would cause a 3% drop in the nano-instant it took to
pull the Treo off the charger.

I've tried a full discharge/recharge cycle a couple of times, no
effect. I've done manual soft resets, no effect. Other than the
software I've already mentioned and removed, I cannot think of any
other new or updated applications that were installed coincidentally to this
problem starting.

I've got Seidio's newest battery on order, but it's not quite available yet, it
should be shipping sometime this week.
