I'll echo that. My PIM information and email is in Exchange, so it was NO effort to migrate from the Treo to the BlackBerry to the Pre. Outlook without Exchange would be just a tiny amount of work, depending on which Gmail/Google email solution one is using.
For my sister's Pre, though, I used the Palm migration tool since she was a Palm Desktop user. I just did what it said in the very simple instructions, and it could not have been smoother or easier. Run the tool, it asks you where you want the stuff to go, and off it goes! Migrated her from Palm Desktop to her Google Apps (branded Gmail) account in about 2 minutes.
