That's pretty good, but not good enough.  When I need it, I need it *right
now* and usually just for a few minutes.  I'd be OK to pay extra for the
data used this way, but REALLY, couldn't they just enable tethering for
these devices just like I had for my Blackberry?  What's the difference?

 

I know those are rhetorical questions, and I know that we all know the
answer.  I just feel better having asked them!! :-)

The mobile hotspot you get with the Pre on VZW is $40/month, which breaks
down to $1.33/day. My understanding from talking to Verizon is that you can
subscribe to that feature when you need it -- say, when traveling -- then
cancel it when you're done. Pay for only what you need.

well, Verizon charges $15/day (75MB) for the MiFi mobile hotspot
(which is a ripoff) but $30/week (250MB) for prepaid mobile broadband.
