He has apparently been hard reset. If you turn it on and its asking you for a Palm Profile, it is back to factory specs. The only way to use it is to have it activated, login to your old Profile, have it set back up and hope that the apps you need were part of the back up.

I got a replacement Pre, and activated it, and now I realize that I need to access certain apps on the old de-activated phone so I can export their databases. But whenever I turn on the phone it reboots itself and wants me to create a Palm Profile. Of course, it can't do that with no service, and it won't let me get past that.
