Not sure how it happened either. Could have been a reset command in the OS, could have been dead to long, as in no battery juice. Just not sure.

I certainly didn't do it (intentionally). I received the replacement Pre in the mail. All I did was turn off the old one and activated the new one. Then later when I tried to use the old one (to get to some apps), it wanted to create a Palm profile, etc. Weird. If you turn it on and its asking you for a Palm Profile, it is back to factory specs. The only way to use it is to have it activated, login to your old Profile, have it set back up and hope that the apps you need were part of the back up. Had the device not been hard reset, then yes you could simply turn it on and use wifi, in theory. _____________________________________ Blackberry PIN 216AB19A Blackberry, Treo, Windows Mobile, iPhone Repair Motorola 2-Way Radio Service and Technical Consulting _____ From: [email protected] <mailto:treo%40yahoogroups.com> [mailto:[email protected] <mailto:treo%40yahoogroups.com> ] On Behalf Of Don Ferguson Sent: Thursday, June 10, 2010 12:06 AM To: Treo List Yahoo Subject: RE: [Treo] Using Pre after it's been de-activated Wifi. I got a replacement Pre, and activated it, and now I realize that I need to access certain apps on the old de-activated phone so I can export their databases. But whenever I turn on the phone it reboots itself and wants me to create a Palm Profile. Of course, it can't do that with no service, and it won't let me get past that.
