I don't like having my info in the cloud but it seems there are no other options.
As for music - I have a synchronize program on my computer that synchronized iTunes to my Pre by copying the files using the USB feature. This then allows me to play that music in my music app on the Pre. There are, also, free music streaming programs available - such as slacker radio. You may want to open your keyboard and with nothing active type APP - it will bring you to the APP Catalog. Browse through there - there are tons of things. I have a personal dislike for paying so I focus only on the free apps. But there are many good ones that charge a fee - not much, either. One other thing - which may not be obvious (wasn't to me). If you want other things - say calculator - you can do the same thing as you did to get the app catalog. Type a letter - say C - and the Pre will show you all the programs installed on your Pre that start with that letter. The more letters you type the more specific it gets. Hope this helps. As I suspected, you've all been very encouraging, and I'm putting my sim card BACK into the new Pre. I will try to trust the cloud, but isn't anyone else worried about having all their personal information out on the web, in the hands of some nameless conglomerate? I know this is an old topic, but up until today it's been a complete abstract to me. Now it's real, and I suddenly feel rather uncomfortable about it all, in an Orwellian context. And what about streaming music? Is there any way to do that other than the obscure apps I found in the AT&T app center? And . . . why can't I do a search on this board any longer? Has Yahoo! forsaken us?:D Chuck B. Ditto that. No matter what you move to today, you're going to have to go to the cloud. It's what Android, iPhone, and BB use as well. Local sync is a thing of the past. For a crutch, if you like using Outlook, but don't use an Exchange server, I recommend CompanionLink. It will sync your local Outlook and Google. Or you could be really retro like me - I sync my Google to my Palm desktop! [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
