In the long run, cgroups could enter the POSIX specifications.
That could work too. I just hope that (if that happens) the committee in charge of bring cgroups to POSIX is competent enough to make a good review of cgroups and change it if nesessary if it's not reasonable easy to implement on other *nix systems. Remember that cgroups is develop on and for Linux. So other *nix could ended-up reassembling part of Linux if they want to be full POSIX compliant.
