Try explaining it to young people and children. If they can understand then
you are probably being clear about it.
Think about what they would say:
"I have nothing to hide"
You could, for instance, quote Snowden, who presents the analogy that that is
like saying "you don't want freedom of speech because you have nothing to

Demonstrate on your computer. Show them XFCE, GNOME-Shell or the Trisquel
desktop. Show them Libreoffice and show them how they can keep using Firefox,
etc.
"I don't need the source code"
Tell them about why it is about everyone having freedom. Show them how you
can keep using the computer many years after it would normally be written off
because the software is freely available. Tell them how it lets other people
make new and exciting creations.
