The Creative Commons licenses are modular licenses for immaterial works (but they are not really appropriate for software). Wikipedia uses CC-BY-SA, for instance. NC and ND are the two other modules that exist. CC means "Creative Commons", BY means "Attribution" (compulsory in some legislations), SA means "ShareAlike" (like GPL's copyleft), NC mean "NonCommercial" and ND mean "NoDerivatives" (which cannot be used along with SA).
