/dev/mapper/Debian-root 23G 3.6G 19G 17% / With all the software I need installed, it takes 3.6 GB here :)It really depends on the user (basically the question is: how many large games are you going to install?) but I would say 10 GB is more than enough for teh rootz.

adequate for a server. But desktop systems involve a *lot* more large
packages (eg desktop environments) than a headless server system, and the
kinds of applications installed on a desktop system also tend to be much
larger (esp. games).
