DAVEH: Simply put, to me a covenant is a two way promise. God makes promises to his people, and his people make promises back. For instance, the Lord has promised salvation to those who 'believe in Jesus'. And, those who have faith and 'believe in Jesus' covenant with him to take upon themselves his name and keep his commandments. From my LDS perspective, that covenant is formalized by baptism.
DavidH, then you are saying that Christ did not have to die? Our Baptism is enough to formalize the agreement without his death? Actually, Jesus' blood is what sealed the new covenant, not baptism. Our promise is to believe that he is the Son of God, and that His shed blood indeed saves us, and His promise is to save us from the penalty of sin (death).
