Terry:For once I may be taking something more seriously than you. 900 men & women from your country have been killed. I don't know the number wounded. Many thousands of Iraqui citizens have died along with their military personnel. I spoke with an Arab Christian yesterday. In his church there are some from Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia & some Palestinians. I asked for the views of the above on two questions:

1. Invasion of Iraq - Answer-Wrong move. They should have continued the inspections.
2. Why the invasion of Iraq - Answer -To secure the oil.

jt: Sadaam was not allowing them to continue the inspections and the US believed that he was buying uranium from one of the countries in Africa. He had weapons of mass destruction, no doubt about it, because he used them on the Kurds.  As for the oil. The US is not in control of Iraqui oilfields, they have been turned over to the new government and the profits from same will help rebuild Iraq along with megabucks from the US and some other countries.

Now, their answers need not be correct in terms of the choice taken or, the motivation for it. But, it does reflect the attitude of some from that area (who themselves are believers).

jt: Believers can be deceived and this includes moi. Time will tell because hindsight is 20/20.

One theme occupying myself for ten or more years has had to do with the relation of the conceptual to life. That theme has informed much of what I've said and observed as a participant on TT. We can't speak with one another without either driving some off or, some opting out of participation due a level of frustration that was too high. That which has most 'captured' my attention dealt with 'life' not the 'conceptual': people's sorrows & joys.

jt: Can you explain "the relation of the conceptual to life?"  Is a concept the same as a perception?

It saddens me that the microcosm of TT has continued to reflect what I've experienced  on a larger scale in this bookstore for 16 years.(I'm right, you're wrong & to hell with your dumb ideas. Furthermore Scripture itself demonstrates unequivocally how right I am and how wrong you are!)
Anyway, enough mumbling. Lance

jt: Whoah Lance!!  I don't think that's the attitude and would hope this is not the way ppl come across. We can speak the truth in love and if what we are speaking is not the truth - the Lord is faithful and He will reveal it in His time.  You know I heard a program last night discussing how America was fast becoming an athiestic or secular society and the Commentator said that Canada had preceded the US in this - and that during the last 30yrs this had taken place already.  The recently passed "hate speech law" was cited.  Do you think what you experience in the bookstore reflects this reality?

I don't believe that a decision should have been taken to 'invade'. But, it was. Any thoughts from anyone on an exit strategy?

We simply drop a pig on every mosque.  While they are all busy building new places to worship, we go home.
