Judy is so right on in this.  John—you have been blinded to understand that Paul is talking about the “two natures” of those who are NOT FILLED WITH THE SPIRIT.  When we are indwelt by the Holy Spirit we are NO LONGER in conflict with HIS SPIRIT. Rom 7: 24   Wretched man that I am! Who will set me free from (42) the body of this (43) death? 25   (44) Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, on the one hand I myself with my mind am serving the law of God, but on the other, with my flesh (45) the law of sin. Romans 8:1  Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ JesusIn Christ, we have no more conflict with the two natures.  That is where the conversion happened (at the end of romans 7) and deliverance entered through the solution to our dilemma (romans 8:1)!!!

READ ON! 2   For (4) the law of the Spirit of life in (5) Christ Jesus (6) has set you free from the law of sin and of death.
3   For (7) what the Law could not do, (8) weak as it was through the flesh, God did: sending His own Son in (9) the likeness of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, He condemned sin in the flesh, 4   so that the (10) requirement of the Law might be fulfilled in us, who (11) do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

Praise God! I get all excited about it, and so should you.  Please do not cut out parts of Romans, but read it in its entire context.  First Paul presents the problem (two natures) and then he gives us the glorious solution: ONE Spirit with God.  Delivered from sin and the desire to sin.  Cleansed when we fail, and re-filled when we repent, to walk in victory over sin! John: Try asking yourself the question, why is Paul concerned with "condemnation" in Ro 8:1?    I doubt that you have ever asked yourself this question.

Judyt:
I don't have to John because it is self explanatory as I spoke of above.. if people walk after the flesh which is "in sin" they are under condemnation.

John:  And why is "condemnation" suddenly in the picture when it is not referenced or even implied in the preceding context?   THE ONLY REASON FOR THE QUESTION IN 8:1 IS WHAT IS SAID IN 7:25.   We have two natures and one of them serves the law of sin and death  -- that is Paul's opinion so don't start with "false teaching" or "Kruger theology" or whatever will be used to color the fact that you cannot over come this point.

Judyt:

A person who is born from above is not supposed to be walking in "two natures" John. Sure indwelling sin is a consideration and we reckon it dead.  If any man be in Christ He is a New Creation, old things are passed away - behold all things have become new"

John: Part of me serves the law of sin and death;  this is deserving of condemnation but, praise the Lord, there is none  for those who set their minds on things of the Spirit (8:5).

Judyt:

No John - you not only have to be spiritually minded, you must "walk after the spirit" for there to be no condemnation.
