Lance, It is a very sad "gospel" you believe in that leaves us just as helpless against sin after we receive Christ as Lord and Savior as we were prior to that. The disease we were all "born" with was the sin of the flesh. That's why we need to be "born again" of the Spirit. That changes both what we are, and as a result, what we do. The doing is just a reflection of what is inside us: flesh or Spirit. Izzy

Sin is a disease and we all have it. We are, in fact, born with it. I heard someone say that we focus unduly and somewhat inappropriately on what we do over what we are. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Terry Clifton" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: October 03, 2004 09:42 Subject: Re: [TruthTalk] Some things we might consider. > > >John: What's wrong with accepting the fact that "righteousness" is a gift bestowed upon us, not something that is earned through obdience (Romans 4) > > > >judyt: Because this is not entirely true, we can't make a doctrine from just one scripture because scripture interprets scripture and scripture teaches differently ie: "Little children let no one deceive you.
