I say that is does not guarantee correct apprehension of the text, Lance. Judy quite clearly views the English translation is correct without error. I do not see it that way. (She carries some of the arguments held by the King James Only people who prove other translations are from the devil by comparing their texts to the King James Version.) Fallacies in each English translation I am aware of make me appreciate the diversity of translations, for where one is clearly wrong, another is correct. Also, the meaning of words in languages change and reverse ("let" and "bad" are but two examples of extreme word meaning changes). Also, people will put their theological slant in the translation (we as humans can't help it), therefore, for example, sane (heb.) which can be translated as oppose or alter/change.   Read this, Lance, and tell me what you think.......   In the LORD I have put my trust How will you say to my soul Flee to the mountains as a sparrow? For behold the sinners have bent bow They have prepared their arrows for the quiver to shoot privily at the upright-in-heart For they have pulled down what you did frame but what has the righteous done? The LORD is in His Holy Temple As for the LORD His throne is in Heaven His eyes look upon the poor His eyelids try the sons of men The LORD tries the righteous and the ungodly And He that loves unrighteousness hates his own soul He shall rain upon sinners snares, fie, and brimstone and a stormy blast shall be the portion of their cup For he LORD is righteous and loves righteousness His face beholds uprightness.   I like this rendering because it deals directly with Bill's concern from Fri 29 Oct 2004 23:27. I think TruthTalk may have inherited another person with great appreciation for Scriptures. Israel learned this the hard way when they tried to play fast and loose thinking they could blend with the nations around them and he wouldn't really do what he said because he loved them so much.  jt
