The key phrase that was in my comment was "when we are trying to follow the greatest commands." God asks us to love no matter who the person is in the equation.
Yes, I do believe that God definately makes a dividing line between the righteous and the unrighteous. He is calling us to be a separate people- a holy people (Deuteronomy 7:6, 2 Tim. 1:9). There is also a definate difference between light and darkness (John 8:12, John 12:35-36, Ephesians 5:7-13, 1 John 1:5-10, 1 John 2:9-11).
