I think you bring a good balance to my post in the things you shared here. We certainly need to be about having a genuine love for others.
I wonder if you understood the point that I was making, which concerns the political game of, "I rubbed your back so now I expect you to rub my back." As a high school teacher, I am sure you have seen students form cliques. Those within the clique have a bias toward others within their same clique. This is kind of the same dynamics that I was addressing.
Jesus taught on a related concept in the following passage:
John 5:43-44
(43) I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.
(44) How can ye believe, which receive honour one of another, and seek not the honour that cometh from God only?
