Subject: RE: [TruthTalk] TOE revisited

Is nefesh a real word?

You can find it in Strong's. People translate it any way they want, it seems.

Is it Hebrew?

But the Bible says Man has both.

Yes. I know you do. I see man as being both.

What do you see as the difference?

And you CAN separate flesh and spirit.  They separate at death.

That's what you believe. I do not.

Do you believe that you are unconscious or sleeping until the Resurrection?

Could you explain, if so, why Jesus told the thief on the cross that he would be with Jesus “today” in paradise?

What part of YOU goes on to be with the Lord upon your death?

I am taken to the Resurrection when Messiah comes to retrieve those whom are His.

What happens to you in the meantime?

Is it not your spirit (which I have a hard time telling apart from “soul”, actually) which is the real you, which currently inhabits your fleshly body? Both are me.  I agree with that kind of.  But I always think of my body as something more like the shell that a crab inhabits; that we come out of it upon death.  Like a butterfly out of a chrysalis. I think of it as a temporary, earthly habitation.  That we receive a new and better body after resurrection. Can you give scriptural understanding for your take on it? I’m not sure I follow you exactly.

But while we are alive on the earth we have no need to separate ourselves into 3 parts, as we all function as one. It does make me think of how we describe God in the Trinity, I must admit.

I understand where you're coming from and I do not deny that the concept of the Trinity is a good way to explain God's manifestation (my word to describe what is indescribable) so don't kill me over it (this last phrase was for Judy's benefit... well, my benefit, actually, because I don't want to be clobbered for not using a KJV word).  I like manifestation as a word. Appearing in a manner that we can comprehend (and not freak out.)

I don’t understand why discussing this with Judy makes you angry. I am puzzled about that.

I never said I was angry with Judy. I said some things were futile. You sound angry.

Tell me, how is God omnipotent? How can He be everywhere all of the time?  Does he not inhabit His creation much as we inhabit our earthly bodies?  If you cut open your brain, would you find Slade in there?

If you split open an acorn, is God there?  The point being that just because you can’t see Him, doesn’t mean He isn’t there.  YOU being inside your physical body is what gives it life and breath.  After that it’s rigor mortis time!

Then where is Slade dwelling if you can’t find him?  He is in the entirety of his body, is he not? Nothing can happen to your body that does not affect you, and that you are not aware of.  Is God not like that in His universe?

My point exactly!! You DO understand... oops, then you said the following.....

Jesus was the physical manifestation of God on earth.  And, because he was physical, He died.  But everything about Him was One with the Father.

He is Spirit, just as we are, I think.

You lost me again.

Can you explain exactly how Being a Spirit in a Body differs in your mind from what you believe in, which is being inseparable Body/Spirit? You believe that when the body dies, the spirit in it also dies? Until the resurrection? Scriptures?
