Subject: RE: [TruthTalk] TOE revisited

Is it Hebrew?

Yes. It's Hebrew #5315

(1) Do you believe that you are unconscious or sleeping until the Resurrection? (2) Could you explain, if so, why Jesus told the thief on the cross that he would be with Jesus “today” in paradise?

(1) I do not believe in soul sleep. What I said I believe. When I die, I am taken to the Resurrection. (2) This is definitely a road we've been down before, considering the earlier topic of Greek Punctuation, but here we go again.... Yeshua said to the thief, "I tell you this day... you will be with Me in Paradise." Personal doctrinal bias uses the comma wherever it suits the translator.

What happens to you in the meantime?

There IS no meantime.

Is it not your spirit (which I have a hard time telling apart from “soul”, actually) which is the real you, which currently inhabits your fleshly body? Both are me.  I agree with that kind of.  But I always think of my body as something more like the shell that a crab inhabits; that we come out of it upon death.  Like a butterfly out of a chrysalis. I think of it as a temporary, earthly habitation.  That we receive a new and better body after resurrection. Can you give scriptural understanding for your take on it? I’m not sure I follow you exactly.

You ask a good question because I don't have all the answers. However, I do not have the "Gnostic" outlook that the body is merely a vehicle for the thinking aspect of the person. The whole package is wholly together and cannot exist apart from one another. Again, being an attendee to Messianic congregations in the past, I'm sure you know the idea behind the Hebrew terms Chodesh and Chadasha as meaning either New or Renewed depending upon context. For instance, Messiah made Izzy a Ishah Chadasha... a New Woman. It's still Izzy. The Old You didn't suddenly dematerialize and a wholly new set of molecules and nefesh suddenly appear. You've been Renewed!

I never said I was angry with Judy. I said some things were futile. You sound angry.

What you hear in my voice is the reaction some has to someone else who cannot be taught. It's the "Oi Vey," the throw my hands up and say, "G-d must intervene to remove the shackles."

The point being that just because you can’t see Him, doesn’t mean He isn’t there.  YOU being inside your physical body is what gives it life and breath.  After that it’s rigor mortis time!

Before death the Spirit of the Holy One rested within the materialness of my being. If I die, rigor mortis sets in, as you said. Is G-d still there?
