Believing that he existed as God from eternity past, but
became known to us as the Son of God when he was born of the woman, does not
deny the Trinity.

It does if He is the eternal Son of God  and that is what David believes If He was not the eternal Son,  when did The Father become the Father  --   if He is not the eternal Son, He is Son only in terms of the role he played via the virgin birth and the events of the incarnation.   After the Resurrection,  He went back to being the "other guy" in the Godhead.  His sonship is only a continuing role he plays.

Important.   Well, it was to the apostle John.   "Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God,  whoever loves the Father loves the child born of Him  [the Son]  --  that would be a clear statement that the Son was birthed of the Father........not the virgin.
(I Jo 5:1).
