Will Blaine venture an answer?  It is my understanding that Mormonism sprang from the mind of God, Himself, as He viewed with concern, the divided church.   What did He see in the early 1800's that was not present in the First Church?   And, doesn't salvation by grace about from our own efforts (a concept taught in your Bible as well as mine) solve whatever problems God saw as needing improvement?
