BLAINE: Freedom of speech being the sacred cow that it is, I have no
suggestions on how to reach LDS ears and/or hearts with the "evangelical"
messages street preachers feel they have for LDS faithful, other than the
methods they currently employ. I am sure, however, that these methods are not
effective in making converts of LDS to any form of traditional relgion the
street preachers advocate. That much seems clear.

Which brings up a question, what do these men advocate? They seem to have no
religion of their own--they seem only united on the basis of their mutual
hatred of Mormonism, the BoM, JS, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints, etc. It's clear to me their inability to tolerate a religion unlike
their own (whatever that is) is more at the heart of their activities during
Annual Conferences held in Salt Lake City than any religious convictions they
might hold otherwise.

Did you see the presidents State of the Union address?
Is that the only legitimate use of amplification?

G,

My question to Blaine was in response to his knocking SP's, particularly
those at the LDS GC and their methods. I thought it would be interesting to
find out what he thinks would be the best way to evangelize Mormons. While
sending out missionaries two by may two work in peoples homes, it is not
practical in a public open-air setting. Dave brought up prayer and
bullhorns. Prayer is not how the Bible tells us people come to faith. While
I believe tht praying for those you wish to come to faith is useful, Paul
tells us that preaching is the way people hear the word of God. Paul made
good on this himself, as did most of the Aposles. As for bullhorns, I must
agree that if someone came into my house with a bullhorn and began to
preach, I would not like it. But, if they needed to be heard over background
noise, hecklers, or other noise in an outdoor setting, I think bullhorns are
a good tool.
