David was told by God to take a census (1 Sam. 24) and it was bad that he obeyed.
David was NOT told by God to take a census; God does not judge his children for being obedient. He is not confused.

2 Sam. 24:1 Again the anger of the LORD burned against Israel, and he incited David against them, saying, "Go and take a census of Israel and Judah."

They weren't coerced into anything; they chose just like everyone else. Jonah repented in the belly of that fish, he didn't have to.  Paul repented of his unbelief also - Selah...

Well, it's not exactly free choice when you're in the belly of the fish or when you've been blinded. I think I would be way more obedient if God wielded such a big stick in my life but He has chosen not to. It's all "still small voice" and "inward knowing" :-)

Love,
