Again we see it a little (or a lot) differently.  I do not think that it was the desire of Jesus to avoid the pain to the flesh, terrible as that thought was.  I think what troubled Him more was taking on Himself every sin ever committed and, for a time, going from something absolutely sinless and holy to something so sinful and obscene that the Father forsook Him. The greatest temptation that Jesus ever faced was to avoid crucifixion. (44) And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground. Clearly, Jesus denied himself and denied the desire of his flesh to live. It was a struggle for him. Yes, he did break a sweat. More than that, he sweat drops of blood. In other words, it was a huge personal struggle, his flesh and spirit at odds with one another over what he should do. He denied his flesh, denied his own will even, and he submitted unto the Father. Hebrews 12:3-4 (3) For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.
