I agree that this also was a factor, as well as other factors, such as the fact that his disciples were about to abandon him. However you look at it, Terry, Jesus had a desire at this point which was contrary to the Father. He recognized that his will was something other than what the Father desired for him. This desire was a temptation for him, as per the passage in James. He struggled with it greatly. Jesus had to deny himself. Do you believe that Jesus had to deny himself? Peace be with you.
