Maybe by your rules of exegesis and those of your human mentors JD.  But if you would lay all that aside and

ask the Lord to reveal His Word to you, He would be able to reveal to you the fact that God's moral law and

the royal law in Christ are both basically love.

The correct way of saying it is this:  nobody has the power to walk as Christ walked.   

"Works of the law" is "obedience to the law."   There is no other way, exegetically speaking,

to consider those words.   Jd

 

With all due respect JD because I know how dear to your heart you hold this "exegesis" I see

it as your biggest stumbling stone.  Last week our SS Teacher who is a graduate of some seminary

stated that God's decree to Adam to "keep the garden" was a covenant of works (Genesis 2:15) and

here you are with your scholarly pedigree claiming that obedience to the Royal Law is "works" from

which you are exempt.  No wonder confusion reigns....

You confuse obedience with works.  They are not the same.  My obedience is 
not a work.  My obedience comes out of my relationship with someone I love.
