I'd be surprised that Sky would bother with changing from letterbox to center-cut on a programme-by-programme basis, unless there was some technical reason why they wouldn't be able to convert HD ATSC to PAL. ISTR from past visits to the UK that letterboxed SD was fairly common long before producing in widescreen was common in the US, whether it was transmitted that letterboxed over SD or not. (IMO, the US media have done a disservice by failing to dispel the popular myth that screen resolution and broadcast format are connected -- i.e., that 16:9=digital=HD and 4:3=analog=SD -- but I've given up on my one-man campaign to educate the great American public.) -- David J.
