That Conan is in Los Angeles is a significant way that his current
show is different from the old Late Night. Not better, necessarily,
but very different.

Conan could very easily uproot himself and return to NYC. But I
suspect he feels an obligation to the dozens of staffers who
transplanted themselves to the West Coast, who can't return as easily.
