"Torchwood" is fun, and engrossing, and of varying quality. And I have thoroughly enjoyed it. FYI, the third series of the program - the five- part "Children of Earth" mini - was probably the best thing done so far under the "Torchwood" banner. But, as stated above, it's not necessary to the appreciation of "Doctor Who" (meaning the 2005 reinvention of the long-running BBC program that's still going strong), and it ain't for kids, unlike the more family-friendly (but still sometimes harrowing) "Doctor Who." Speaking of adoring Emma Peel as played by Diana Rigg, wait until you get a look at the 11th Doctor's companion - Amy Pond, embodied (and what a lovely body) by Scottish actress Karen Gillan. Amy is my current show-biz crush, and for good reason. Major babe with snark and sass. BTW, I'd say that the increasingly devoted relationship between the Doctor (in his 9th and 10th incarnations) and Rose Tyler had some of the joyful dynamics of the John Steed/Mrs. Peel team in the "The Avengers." Then again, I'm a fan of both programs.
