You just mentioned one of my favorite points about the LA freeway system... the 405 is called the San Diego Freeway, but it doesn't actually go to San Diego... it ends in Orange County... just past Irvine. The 5 and the 15 both go to San Diego, as does the 8 for westbound travelers, but none of those are called the San Diego Freeway.
