I say I know people who refer to the southern part of the 5 like this, but these are people I have met since I moved up here who say they grew up down there. I never referred to anything other than the 405 as the San Diego Freeway, and never knew anyone else who did this when I lived there, and my family used to drive down to San Diego pretty often, and had family down there. We always rationalized the name because many people (in the west Valley) would take the 405 to the 5 to get to San Diego. -- TV or Not TV .... The Smartest (TV) People!
