That is the whole bit - each night he picks a different Senator who voted against the bill, calls them the stooge of the night, and gives a factoid that makes their vote particularly dickish. Stewart and Colbert have both been doing some funny and biting pieces on the same topic, but I appreciate Dave's approach, which is more of a short form, on its own terms. The main element is how they linger a couple of beats longer than they usually would, and the point is that the vote against the bill was not really politics as usual, was not just legitimate disagreement about a controversial issue - these guys voted against a bill that an overwhelming majority of their conservative constituents supported just because they are in the back pocket of the arms merchants; the least of their consequences should be a few seconds of ridicule on late night television (which wont really change anything anyway) -- -- TV or Not TV ....
