"Obviously", in what sense? I've never heard that before. CBS contracts with WWP for a one-hour variety/talk show, and they broadcast it at 11:35 weeknights. Once the contract with WWP expires, CBS can renew/extend the contract, they can contract with a different company to produce a different show, or they can broadcast shows that they already own in that time slot...but ultimately CBS "owns the 11:35 slot".
...unless I'm just not following your point?
And if Dave's ever mentioned his preference for a successor, I've never heard anything beyond second- and third-hand rumors. Not that that necessarily means anything, but I do try to keep up with stuff like that.
