7th-inning stretch already had "God Bless America" (broadcast) and, presumably, "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" (not broadcast). Middle of the 8th is where they do "Sweet Caroline" at Fenway Park -- and I don't think anyone fully realized ahead of time that Jim Leyland might put Mariano in for the 8th instead of the 9th (in order to be 100% assured he'd get to appear in the game). Just think, if we have enough terrorist attacks, we could someday have EVERY mid-inning break in nationally televised MLB games extended by a song performance.
