I watched the whole game last night and it was the first time in years that
I didn't get up and walk out in disgust at the telecast. While it was true
that they were pimping Rivera, he was the only player they were pimping. In
previous years there would be 3 or 4 players who would get all the
attention even to the point of ignoring the ongoing game.

Once they showed Rivera taking practice throws in the bullpen during the
top of the eighth there was no more suspense as to when he would pitch and
the TV team did a good job of not trying to build up pretend tension.

Let's not overlook the possibility that it was MLB who thought it was a
good idea to bring Diamond in to sing.
