Subject: [TV orNotTV] Re: Jimmy Fallon Era Begins: Fallon Big Late Night Winner

I was struck by two things while watching "The Best of Late Night with Jimmy
Fallon":

1. How little of it was spontaneous, which doesn't bode well for the "talk"
part of "talk show".

2. How few of the pop culture references I got, even when I recognized what
they were satirizing. I'm now officially old, and it may be that Fallon will
resonate with a younger audience the same way Dave one did with me.

1. I think it's the non-talk bits (Kimmel's video pieces, Fallon's music) that
get either Jimmy any serious attention.  While the same can be said of Conan,
some interview and monologue bits do stick out.

2. I will find it interesting to watch how Fallon's median viewer age
(currently about 8 years younger than Jay & Dave) will change at 11:30.
