Upon further reflection, I guess this series might more closely be compared to "Sneakers," a favorite film of mine that has had various TV pilots trapped in development hell for over a decade. Ensemble cast of genius characters work to solve problems. But again the gaping difference is that there didn't seem to be any link to the real world in what the team was doing to solve the problem. Not that reality is essential to TV drama, but this sort of series lends itself to being rooted in normality, otherwise the abnormal characters are just cartoons.
