I don't really understand the question. If you really mean why do people
bitch about sports prompting regularly scheduled shows, I think you know
the answer: If you don't care about the sport (and lots of people dont care
about golf in particular), then it is silly and irritating to have your
show cancelled. If somehow one of my favorite shows (like "The Americans",
say) was preempted for the men's finals of the European Gymnastics
Championships, I would bitch too. If you are asking why networks continue
to preempt programming even when it irritates regular and loyal viewers,
you already know the answer to that too - Major sports events draw more
viewers than Meet the Press, and, especially in the case of Golf, affluent,
high end viewers.

To me a more pressing question is why is NBC actually prompting MTP today?
Why not show it after the Open, or, if need by, on MSNBC or some other
cable partner?
