Predicting from previous product/service launches (which means they might not do it this way): they will announce the subscription service and say it is available only through Apple TV so they can get some Apple TV sales from early adopters. After 3 months or 6 months Apple will say that they are opening it up to Roku, Fire, etc as they hit the limit of people willing to buy an Apple TV for the service.
