Subject: DEALER UPDATE - Some new info
Date: Mon, 4 Apr 2005 14:15:09 -0500
From: Summer Porter NPS
Even though the guide is down right now I thought you could probably use some
encouragement or
clarificationthe guide download on G0-7 had been provided on a TVN digital
stream. With TVN
leaving C-Band a new data download stream needed to be provided. Starz Encore
stepped up and they
are hosting the feed for the guide data download stream.
This weekend due to the Starz Encore Entertainment Group doing name and logo
changes some feeds of
Starz Encore G5-106,107,108 / G1 -150, 152, 154, 156, 157, 175, 176 went black
due to the encoding
for these services needed to be updated by the ACC because they had changed.
The quickest way to get through the customer calls for me has been to
immediately ask the customer
to press their guide button. If it is telling them to go to GO then they will
need to do a soft
reset. I take them to G1-167 or G0-101, ASK THEM IF THEY HAVE A GREEN DC light
lit up.
Where ever you take them to, a GREEN DC light is a MUST and then have them do a
soft reset.
If when they press the guide button it is telling them to go to G1, then I take
them to G1-3 or
G1-167 and rehit them. The instructions below are working pretty wellthere are
a few odd and end
problems have gotten several tips from some of you which have been helpfulthe
instructions that we
are giving you are general and basic in nature, as we try to keep them that way
for the CSRs.
G1-3 is the official location of the data download stream but you know how at
night before this
IPG change if the customer left his receiver on G0-101 or another digital
channel it would reset to
G0-7? Well, I had several people tell me since the IPG change to G1-3 that
their units reset to
G1-5, G1-167, G1-4. So I asked why. The explanation I received was that once
G1-3 has been set in,
the system may reset at night to the last digital channel on G1 that was
watched.
Hope this is helpfulnote to the Forum guysplease do not reprint this as it is
not official but
just my interpretation of what is going on and it could be entirely off the
wall compared to what
you guys know. J
On that noteany tips or commentsplease send themit is appreciatedreceived a
couple this a.m.
that I was able to pass along and it has been helpful..THANK YOU.as always,
NPS Dealers are the BEST!

THESE STEPS MAY HELP YOU WITH THE IPG REHITS:
STEP 1: TURN THE DISH TO SATELLITE G1-3 OR G1-167
STEP 2: VERIFY THAT THERE IS A GREEN LIGHT LABLED DC ON THE FRONT PANEL OF
THE RECEIVER
STEP 3: PROCEED TO DO A SOFT RESET BY UNPLUGGING THE RECEIVER FOR 1 MINUTE
ONLY
STEP 4: AFTER THE RECEIVER COMES OUT OF WARM UP, WAIT AN ADDITIONAL 10
MINUTES BEFORE CHANGING
THE CHANNEL
STEP 5: PRESS THE GUIDE BUTTON AND THE GUIDE SHOULD TAKE JUST A FEW MINUTES
TO LOAD
IF THE GUIDE DOESNT LOAD AFTER A FEW MINUTES:
STEP 6 AN ADDITIONAL REHIT MAY BE NECESSARY
STEP 7 NOW ATTEMPT TO LOAD THE IPG AGAIN BY PRESSING YOUR GUIDE BUTTON AND
WITHIN MINUTES
THE DOWNLOAD SHOULD BE COMPLETE.
. Customers who have problems getting G1 will not be able to do the download to
get the guide.
. However, they can still get an activation or a rehit of digital
services on G0-101.
. Soft resets for digital services other than the guide will work on G0-101.
. It is imperative for a rehit for digital services or the guide to work that
the green light
labeled DC is lit.
