Hi Doug We designed our software to not be dependent on uniobjects so that we were not locked to one vendor. We created a class that handles the uniobjects items. All selects, reads, writes, calls to subroutines go through the class. If we move from uniobjects to another vendor interface, we change everything in one place. Other vendors, provide something similar to uniobjects so it is not big issue. This is better than reinventing the wheel.
If you are setting up the socket interface that allows multiple users to use one universe license, then you require to purchase a universe pool license. IBM is currently doing audits in this area to make sure users are not breaching their license agreement.
