We do something like that using Windows Mobile and Windows XP on UMPCs. We have a product for "in the field" workers (I don't think I can go into actual detail here) which runs in .Net / .NetCF. Given signal availability issues, though, we don't use UO directly from the device - that's handled by a service on the server listening for MSMQ responses and a RedBack web service. This is used as a proof of delivery / proof of location mechanism, and includes signature capture (although that will need to disappear with Phone 7). GPS has been discussed / tested, too as a replacement for signatures. We don't currently support Android or iOS though, which makes maintenance a little easier.
