We use lantronix UDS'es for single port serial connections. We use
these with a socket server process for talking to laboratory instruments,
and even serial printers. We also use them as single port terminal
servers. Newer version of UniVerse can use sockets directly. I'm
about to use another dozen+ of these to talk to data collection terminals.
Cost is about $130 for a UDS100 (100bT 1 port)

Digi appears to have
the best unit to go from serial to ethernet. While we do have an HP serial
port "hub", I would rather not wire a serial home-run from the server to the
scale.
Thus,
I seek suggestions on voodoo to best make a connection between say UniBasic
and/or UniObjects and a serial or ethernet device.
