My own system is currently workable right now.  I'll need to unhold the
gir1.2-peas-1.0 in due time, but right now things look ok.

My concern was more with the number of other systems that are likely to
end up in a dead end while the problem persists.

Well, to a degree that is what subscribing to a development system is
about.
