Hey there! Thanks for the bug report. It seems that your system was
installed as Kubuntu, but the `kubuntu-desktop` metapackage is missing.
However as you point out, this does not appear to be the reason for
upgrade failure.
The upgrade failure itself seems to be due to an installation of the
`gnome-control-center` which upgrades the GNOME packages from version 46
to 50. It brings in libmutter-14-0, which is replaced by libmutter-18-0
in GNOME 50. However, for some reason the resolver does not suggest this
transition.
If you want a quick fix, I would suggest removing the GNOME packages
`gnome-control-center` and `gnome-remote-desktop` as it appears to be
those that are pulling in `mutter-common`. You can re-install these
after the upgrade.
